There is a disease...

...in my family. It is genetic, although it is hit or miss on who is affected in my extended family. Thankfully, I am only mildly stricken with this disease. Most days I don't even notice I have it. It only becomes glaringly apparent at certain times in my life.

And this week it has reared it's ugly head--again.

It is the "I-can't-throw-things-away-and-I-cling-to-unnecessary-items-I-have-purchased-in-the-past-and-continue-to-move-them-around-with-me-everywhere-I-go-for-no-obvious-reason-except-this-disease-makes-me-do-it-or-at-least-that-is-what-I-tell-myself."

I hide this affliction pretty well. Mostly in my garage and in my closet. And the cure is also the active ingredient to the disease--We are having a Garage Sale this Saturday!! It forces me to face the dreaded symptoms of my disease--my garage and my closet. Not my favorite, but cathartic nonetheless!!
I will feel a great burden lifted after tomorrow!! Hooray! I am getting rid of so much crap, I can hardly wait. And then if unsold it moves on to Goodwill, never to grace my home again. AND we are going to let Brinley set up a little booth o' cookies and hustle the neighbors out of their money with her snickerdoodles and puppy eyes :)

Okay, I do the EXACT same thing. I can't throw anything away and am actually still wearing clothes that I had in the ninth grade. . .granted they are full of holes and I only wear them to bed. . .but they are still there in my closet. SAD!
You want to know what works for me? Whenever Oprah or someone has shows on about Hoarders. I get all panicked that I am becoming a hoarder and throw stuff away. Then I say a little prayer "Please help me not to be a crazy hoarder!" It keeps my issues at bay. ..a little.

Yay for crap sales!! I just had one last Saturday!

A word of advice - if there aren't very many people coming by, send someone to check if your signs are still up, or if some jerk ripped them off the poles.... it happens, apparantely.

Brinley is going to make a killing...the cute factor, y'know.

I think we all keep unnecessary stuff. Sentimental reasons!

You are so brave to battle this disease.

Could you send that little cutie pie my way? I'd pay top dollar for snickerdoodles.

Just so you know...the neighborhood postponed the garage sale until next Saturday because of Ike. So you can keep your cr*p for one more week!

I'm figuring it might rain all day tomorrow -- but maybe you could set it all out anyhow and it could blow away. Just a thought.
