The Weather Forecast

My daughter came into my room this morning and wanted me to get up, which of course I didn't (nice mother that I am) so instead I turned on the TV for her. I know, I know: I'm not winning any motherhood awards for this but I'm a work-in-progress, what can I tell you? :) Anyway, as I was drifting in and out of consciousness I realized Brinley was watching the weather channel. And not "The Weather Channel," but the channel that shows the Radar and talks like a Robot. For a full five minutes. By choice. AND every time the Robot explained the future forecast for Austin, I would hear

"Mom, there's an 80% chance of thunderstorms"

More robot talk.

"Mom, it's going to rain."

Robot again.

"Mom, its 64 degrees outside."

Robot.

"Mom…"

And so it went. And surprisingly for me, my typical morning sass was gone and that ol' frown of mine was turned upside down because honestly now: what five year old watches the robot radar weather channel?

I love that girl's brain. :)

sounds all to familiar in the morning. one time i turned on the tv for eli when he was little (like 4 or 5) and went back to sleep. later, i realized he watched half of a college basketball game and he was perfectly fine with it. i guess whatever doesn't make them whine, or cry is ok, right?
