Capital of Texas Triathlon

This morning I received an email about the Capital of Texas Triathlon and I thought, "What was I thinking?" The race is officially a week from today and I am really starting to freak out. I cannot believe I signed up for this because I am scared to death. Since training started in February, I never realized I would actually race in the triathlon until today because it always seemed so far away...I just pray I don't fall on my face. The swim portion is in Austin's town lake which is freezing and I don't even want to think about the nasty stuff and animals/fish that live in that water. Thankfully, my friend Kasey (who is a real triathlete!) has lent me her wet suit and her sweet bike. I am not a swimmer either, although I have really learned to like it. It can be pretty relaxing (once I figured out how to breathe!). I was scanning online about the CapTexTri and I found this picture (to the left)...Holy Moly! This is insane. I am SO not an athlete! Kasey, how do you do it? I discovered how much I love fun runs, so I guess I figured this is the next step? I'm hoping I'll just really love it and all will be well and I won't drown. Pray for me! This is me in my first fun run (to the right--looking smokin hot, too!): the Turkey Trot 2005. It was awesome...hopefully I'll feel the same about the triathlon...

You are competing in a triathalon? I feel betrayed. You are obviously not on the chubby side.

Trust me girl, I look less like a runner and more like a McDonald's rep (Pass me a Big Mac)!

Good luck on the triathlon! My brother started the St. George Triathlon. (sgtri.com) This was the 6th year and he just sold it. But it was the greatest thing to have my family all gather and put on this amazing event. Triathlons are so cool!

dude, did design mom really leave a comment on your blog? that is pretty cool. i'm going to say that she found you when she was busily reading my blog. also, you are a traitor, as holly said. there will be no triathletes in the inner circle.

The one where I talked about winning her contest. She felt like she has to post, I am sure. I don't really feel special.

I think it is cool that you are doing a tri. You go Kristi. I've never done one...and I don't plan on it. Me and swimming...we don't really get along. I almost did one about 2 years ago. I started "swimming" on a regular basis. But see, I was a total geek and wouldn't swim without nose plugs, at first anyway. So, t he first time I went to swim, I had all my gear, the nose plugs and the goggles and I didn't know exactly how to put them on. So I put them on in the dressing room and was praying nobody would see me. That didn't happen, somebody came around the corner and I made her jump. I felt like a freak. I did get better and one day the plugs fell off and I couldn't find them and I kept swimming and I didn't die. You do get a groove with swimming, but it takes too much work the changing and the getting wet blah blah blah. I'd rather just run and ride a bike. I'm excited for you though.
