Kitten for a Day

by Ezra Jack Keats
Now with a last name like Keats, dude…I'm expecting quite a bit frankly. But what's in a name? Not much in this case.
I love to read and encourage the chitlins to do so, but this little Kitten book was pure and total Crap.
I know I am evil because who hates a Child's book? That's pretty much against the rules. But, I will say this: Don't even glance in its general direction. I mean, I have nothing against cats or this Ezra guy, but seriously, I feel sorry for the tree that was killed to publish this…ok, that's a little dramatic. (SO sorry if you own and/or like this book!)
And, yeah, one might argue, "Pshaw. Kristi, I'd like to see you write a children's book," which happens to be quite a valid argument.
One to which I would reply, "I did." My Mom recently returned this "diamond in the rough" to me. Now, cut me some slack. It was written long ago. Would you like to read it? You can't tell, but the title says, "The Best Lawyer in the World."

It's an interesting premise for a book, don't you think? Should I submit this for publication? Man, the possibilities feel so endless right now. Some dreams never die…
Dude, I am such an idiot on my blog

You go on the publication thing. That's fun that you have your book. Treasures! I don't like cats so I'm sure that book wouldn't do it for me either.
i laughed out loud at this post today. you are so funny! i've come across a lot of crap books. well, either crap or something i wasn't expecting. like one time aubrey picked out a book and in the end the grandmother dies and it was quite dark and tragic. it wasn't one of those happily ever afters. i was like-what the heck? and then i read the front of the book and in small print along the bottom it said something like,"a book to help deal with the loss of a loved one" maybe i should have read that.
and what a lovely imagination you had as a child-a prodigy some might say.
I would buy your book!! I'll have to make sure I put that stupid cat book on my DON'T list.
I love your book! I think it should be published. I thank you for your warning of the childrens book. I too have run into a few that I truly wondered how in the heck it got published.
Kris, I was deeply impressed by the story of your book. Then I looked at the illustrations and was at a loss for words. How in the h did you draw so good at that age? I'm really impressed. Tell Jan thanks for bringing this jewel back to its rightful owner. And thank you for sharing it with us.
Funny..I remember having to create a book in elementary school. I wonder if mine still exists....
I'm going to have to start calling you Hemingway. Love the book! Plus, problem solved-- I've been wondering what to give my parrot-slash-lawyer.
Man, I love me some Kristi.
Now I'm interested in reading Kitten for a Day because you talk so much crap about it and now I want to know what's it about. And oh, I do think you should do lots of children book reviews--I take you opinion very seriously. Where can I buy that darling book about the parrot and lawyer?
it looks better than "vanessa, the only unicorn that could fly." what was my contribution to literature in first grade. it won a prize. i'm serious.
