Infidel

So, I just finished Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali (thanks Kasey for the recommendation) and talk about an eye-opener. I love reading memoirs, biographies and autobiographies and I'm so glad I read this. Her life and her experiences are other-worldly to say the least, and yet fascinating. I remember studying about Islam and Muslims and I don't remember learning anything like the life she has lived. Once again, I am reminded how grateful I am to live in a free country where I can worship as I chose. And also thankful (like Kasey said) for strong women, who aren't afraid to stand up for themselves and others. Whew! I guess what I'm trying to say is you should read this book...

Also, about yesterday...let's just say my poor children could do nothing right, and by last night I was just straight-up done! One example, when the kid's were taking a bath in the morning, Braden stood up and peed on Brinley. I mean, of course there is some bodily fluid involved, right? I thought that girl was going to blow a gasket! So, my patience levels were running on low pretty much all day. Going out to Hula Hut(yum!) last night for a friend's birthday and cold kickin it (I'm so street) with the girls did wonders for my parenting (isn't that how it goes sometimes? you just need a little break). So, I am happy to report this morning I was determined to be a nice Mom and I have not had an irrational blow up yet. Quite an accomplishment! :) hee...ok, so yeah, it's only 10 am-ish, but I'm feeling quite fabulous about it :)

I am glad today is better. I think I might just pick this book up. I have heard really great things about it from other people too. I need something to read on the plane, that way I'll look busy and people may assume the three really bad kids next to me are not mine! If only....I hate flying.

Alright! new book, I am going to put this on my list. Sorry about your day, I must admit it gave me quite a chuckle. Glad today is going better. Me on the otherhand, I'm sitting here in a messy house, in my pj's eating taco's for breakfast. It's not a pretty picture. You've inspired me to make it a great day. Off I go.

thanks for the suggestion. I've now heard it's good from several people...it's going on my list now.

Glad to see you are feeling a bit more rational today. You had me worried (and laughing a TINY bit) for half a second yesterday:) I'm glad you got a breather last night. That really is all it takes sometimes.
HUGGS woman :)

oh my gosh, that is a funny(sorry but it is) story. sounds like one of those days, where you feel you will go insane, but then by the next day(hopefully) you can tell people about it and get a good laugh. i mean, that story of braden peeing on brinley is seriously a riot. sorry it sucked at the time though! good thing you had a girls night-those are so important.

I'll check the library for this and the one Sharla recommended.

'Kicking it with the girls' is NOT street. Yet, kicking it with the 'homegirls' IS street. ;0)

Thanks for the book recomendation. It sounds interesting. Sorry about your hard day. Oh man, I would of flipped if Logan peed on Jessi. I think my non-yelling home would've become one right quick!

Gotta love boys. Mine have peed on just about everything in & out of the house. Don't worry, Braden is NORMAL. Just be glad he doesn't have a partner-in-crime brother!!

How come we never end up at the same girl nights out?? Ryan has class Tuesdays, I was bummed to miss out. I've never been to the Hula Hut!
