This morning I woke up before my children (wonder of wonders!) and I was able to do one of my favorite things in the whole world--read the scriptures. No distractions.
Normally, I'm squeezing in my scripture study at the end of the day, while my mind is muddled. I love reading the Book of Mormon first thing in the morning (although too rare it seems) while everyone is asleep. It's so much easier to get more pages read and focus and concentrate on what's written. It's the best way to start my day. The Book of Mormon rocks.

Aren't you a good example to us all! Thanks for reminding us how important it is to read our scriptures too.
my roommate is a good example too. i always feel like a schmuck at night when she's reading her scriptures & i'm snuggled up with my latest novel. why oh why am i not a good person?
i'm not the greatest at reading the scriptures. oopsy! i always think about it when i'm not able to, how awful am i.
I love it when I find other LDS bloggers. I love the Book of Mormon too! You really have given a good reminder of what I should be doing, besides browsing my computer.
yeah, me too. the book of mormon is my favorite. i need to work in morning scripture study - i'd get more out of it, for sure. my best scripture study tip is to keep a journal of verses that "speak" to you, and what they mean to you at that point in your life. the scriptures are so great that way - they speak to you in different ways at different points of time, so it's good to write down what you're getting from them today - next time you read, you'll be getting something different. another one i've heard is to approach your scripture study with a specific question in mind...and read until you find something that answers that question. that's an interesting approach, too.
Great post Kristi! This morning I got up and read The Book of Mormon too. I feel so much better when I do. I was feeling bad because I make time to read anything, and everything, plus blog, but I haven't been super regular with my scriptures.
i think i'm evil and going to hell! ahhhh. you guys are great that read regularly, maybe it'll give me a better example and motivation. i did say maybe. :)
Thanks for that great reminder! It's amazing how we find time to do just about whatever we set our minds to-good or bad.
Just call me Molly! j/k Good ideas, Natalie!
