My initial thought being, "Why did this ever go out of style?"
Come on, people. This is gorgeous personified.
Utah was wonderful, as only Utah can be. The mountains are all up in your business from the word, "go," which is what I love most about them.
Mostly Utah consisted of shopping, eating, laughing, and Café Rio (which conveniently happens to be some of my favorite things about Utah!) Good thing we had Angie around to show us where all the hot shopping spots were (Fashionista that she is), and my Mother's driving know-how, and Shelly's comic relief...
Speaking of Cafe Rio, I wrote a letter after visiting, which I will quickly transcribe for my blog:
Dear Rio,
Boy, you were so awesome today—with your sassy seasoning on your chicken salad, and your spicy tomatillo dressing dancing over my tongue and into my gooey belly. I just want to tell you from the bottom of my heart: Thank you. Thank you for being so amazingly incredible and wonderful to me in my time of hunger. I needed satisfaction, baby, and boy did you supply. But, Rio, why are you such a tease? I don't know what's going on in your life right now or why this is happening to us, but you gave me major Fire-rhea and that's hurts. It hurt me real bad. After all this time I've longed to see you? After 4 ½ years of patiently waiting and anticipating, you hurt me like this? Why? I have to say: Now it's your turn to wait.
I want to see you again, I do. But not any time soon.
I think we both need time to cool off (both literally, and figuratively).
Sincerely,
Kristi
(Break-ups are always hard.)Moving on, I have to say how awesome my family is! My mom and my sisters cracked me up to no end on the trip—they are some of the truly funniest people I know. I love how we get to tease and joke with each other pretty much all of the time.
Speaking of, we stopped at Ross Dress for Less in Utah and Angie just happened to be wearing a shirt she had bought from there, and we just happened to find that same shirt…the really freaky thing: it fit all four of us…we bought it and are thinking of calling it "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Polka-dotted Shirt from Ross…" it really has a ring, don't you think?
(Sorry those pictures are so squishy! I was trying to get them side by side. Also, what in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is up with my eyebrows? Have mercy. It's as if they've taken on a life of their own. I hope we can still be friends after posting that picture.)
One of the biggest perks of our road trip was staying in a hotel room with mirrors for walls. Bow chicka bow bow...Talk about convenient.
On the way home, we stopped and visited my grandma, who is as sweet as she is crazy. Oh man, sometimes the things that come out of her mouth...whew! I love it.
I got to hang out with my Dad and his new 'Vette! He was pumped to give it a whirl while Shelly and I were in town. He is such a sweetheart. But, I have to admit that I was pooping my pants about driving it because the man loves cars like I love(d) the Rio. I was a little wary of scratching it or breathing on it wrong. However, he was very patient with me as I ground the gears and squealed the tires. What a cutie my Dad is…and a barrel full of laughs, too!
So, how cute is she? I mean really? I want to bite her and cuddle her and carry her around in my purse.
And Mason is such a cutie, too. I love to tickle him until he announces that I am, in fact, his favorite aunt (and he has a lot of good ones, too!) Nothing less than torture to get what I want.
(PS--have you seen my eyes? Anyone, please? My eyes? My eyes!!)
Last, but certainly not least, I got to hang out with my brother Eric, who I don't see nearly enough and who is a giant teddy bear! I was so grateful for the chance to go on this trip and visit my family and have a girls' road trip. I love my family and miss them terribly, and am also grateful for my Texas family and how much they have done/do for me!

Hey isn't that a picture of your high school boyfriend with the perm?(Didn't you both have perms?) I also wasn't aware you were so happy to see my chest....your welcome:) Thanks for coming to visit-I just wish the party could have lasted longer!
Sounds like a great trip -- and that the mirrored hotel room was a real highlight. All I could think of there was that it was too bad it wasn't your honeymoon or something! hahaha!
What a fun time. We are sure glad you are back in Austin. We missed you. Although, Braden was a bit more of a cuddlebug with me. That was sure nice. You missed him talking to me in his not inside voice in the middle of sacrament meeting. He's a loud mouth. But oh so cute. And the people behind us were dying laughing because I'd give him sour patch kids and he'd make these hilarious faces. Then I'd say, Braden, don't smack. He'd reply, with a mouthful of candy, Otay Nomi, Sorry. I love both him and Brinney so much. Anywho, welcome back. Can't wait to see all your great shopping finds. Love your buns.
Sounds like you had a good old time with your Mom and sisters. Isn't it great to let it all hang out with your girls?? Sounds like some did literally hahaha. That trip to Ross sounds fun, sometimes those shopping moments can be hilarious. So sorry the Rio gave you troubles...we ate it twice and I'm happy to report no trouble here!:)
Hanging out with sisters and the MOM is so much fun. It makes me miss mine so much! We always laugh til it hurts when we are together. I only have to wait til the (way off) end of August, but who's counting the minutes....... Sounds like you had a blast.
Oh , by the way the shirt thing is hilarious. If my fashionista lil sis found out that one of us "moms" had the same shirt as her she probably wouldn't wear it again. She's picky like that.
Okay girl, that post made me laugh so hard, It was alarming to my child. I love the letter to the Rio! cute family! Glad you had such a fun time. I am Happy you are back too! So little in life makes me laugh out loud. I am usually just silently amused.
I loved your pictures and stories about our trip. We were so glad you and Shelly were able to come visit and we had so much fun, wish you could have stayed longer. Sorry, my driving was so crazy, it is really stressful driving in Utah! Love ya! mom
oh...my...laughing my @*& off at the Fire-reah. Seriously. I had to read the letter twice. Laughed out loud BOTH times. Your trip sounds like it was a blast. Mirrored hotel rooms, gut rot, melon-flashings...seriously, does it get better than that?
You crack me up! I loved the Rio letter can you send a copy of it to The Rio for me...The mirror walls in the hotel would be great for a hubby/wifey night. Glad you had so much fun.

I'm so jealous you got to have Cafe Rio salad...but you can keep the "fire-reah" all to yourself. What a fun trip. Sisters are the best!! I bet you looked "wicked awesome" drivin' the vette around Boise! Woo-woo
